Welcome To River Country

The Astor Area of Central Florida's River Country is a unique sportsman's paradise and one of Florida's "best kept secrets". The six "Black Bear" communities of Astor, Astor Park, Volusia, Emporia, Pierson and Barberville, are situated along the St. John's River (the only north flowing American Heritage River in the US) and within a short driving distance of Orlando, Jacksonville, St Augustine, Daytona Beach, Ocala, and The Villages.

Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, the Astor area has much to offer visitors who might want to enjoy a taste of Old Florida and see the unspoiled beauty that is found while driving along Florida's Black Bear Scenic Byway or in the 1,000 lakes, streams and the clear water springs that are so much in abundance in these "jewel of the St. John's River" communities.
